Brett Benson is active as an educator in the Twin Cities,  now in his fifth year of teaching at Eagan High School. As the percussionist specialist, Mr. Benson teaches all of the curricular percussion lessons. His ensemble responsibilities include Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wildcat Band 4, all percussion ensembles and team-teaching both the Varsity Marching Band and the Freshmen Marching Band.  In addition to his job at Eagan HS, he currently serves as an instructor with the U of M Marching Band.

Mr. Benson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2010 with a degree in Music Education.  He is currently pursuing his Master of Conducting degree from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University.


Doug Hart

Doug Hart teaches instrumental music at Eagan High School and Dakota Hills Middle School.  At Eagan High School he teaches Brass Lessons and directs Freshman Band, Jazz III, Brass Ensemble and co-directs the Varsity Marching Band and Freshmen Marching Band.

Mr. Hart began teaching in District 196 in 1992, prior to that he taught in Iowa.  He graduated from Wheaton College and have done graduate work from Minnesota State University (Mankato).

In his free time he enjoys biking and running and can be found doing various DIY projects at home.  He also enjoys performing with the "Eagan Band Booster Brass Quintet."

Mr. Miska joined the instrumental music staff at Eagan High School in 1993 and serves as the performing arts department coordinator
. His teaching responsibilities include conducting the Wind Ensemble, Jazz I, Saxophone Ensemble, co-conductor of the Varsity Marching Band, instrumental director for the EHS all-school show ENCORE!, and teaching studio lessons to over 100 woodwind students. Under his direction EHS Jazz I has performed three times for the Minnesota Music Educators Mid-Winter Conference, and has hosted guest jazz artists annually since 1996. Mr. Miska served as the MN Music Educators Association Chairperson for Jazz Education from 2010-2012.

Mr. Miska holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mayville State University and a Master of Music degree from the University of North Dakota. Prior to his arrival at Eagan High School, Mr. Miska's teaching experience included instrumental music instruction grades 5 through college, and vocal music instruction grades 7-12 at East Grand Forks MN, Northwood ND, University of North Dakota, Valley City State University, and Cannon Falls MN. Mr. Miska has extensive performance experience on flute, clarinet, saxophone, and bass guitar, and he is an active music adjudicator and clinician of concert bands, jazz bands, and woodwinds throughout the Midwest. Mr. Miska has been a liturgical musician for 20+ years, and is currently performing with www.windwoodinstrumentals.com, http://bigbandexperience.com,  as well as with other twin cities jazz groups.
