OUTDOOR LOCATION (weather permitting): Eagan High School Stadium

Graduates must report to the EHS Auditorium starting at 1:00 and no later than 1:30 p.m. They are to park in the South (faculty) lot and enter the building through the South entrance (‘horseshoe’ driveway area).  Students will pick up their diploma name card from their Auditorium seats and be in the correct place in line by 1:45 p.m. We expect to be walking out of the Auditorium in processional order to the Stadium with participating faculty members by 2:00 p.m.

The ceremony has been planned by the senior class to be dignified and formal; we expect graduates to honor that decision and dress accordingly.  Caps and gowns may not be altered in any way for the ceremony.

The Stadium opens at 1:18 p.m. to the public.  No tickets are required if we are outdoors.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:18 p.m. with the processional of graduates and faculty.  The ceremony will end at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Rain or shine, the Auditorium will also be open for those who prefer to be inside.  Entrance  to the auditorium will be allowed after 2:00 p.m., when the graduates depart to walk to the Stadium (or Gym if weather demands this change).

The ceremony is broadcast live on E-TV, channel 20 ( for those who prefer to watch from home in Eagan.  It will be re-broadcast throughout the summer.

INDOOR LOCATION (inclement weather): Eagan High School Gymnasium

A decision to change location will be made by 9:30 a.m. on June 2nd.  Please check the EHS Web site at

We're hoping for sunshine; however, if the ceremony needs to move indoors, tickets will be issued for family admission to each graduate at their rehearsal on June 1:  Three (3) tickets for Gym seating, and one (1) ticket for Auditorium seating to watch live on a big screen will be issued.  Due to the size of our class, no extra tickets for the gym are available.  However, extra seating with a big screen and not requiring a ticket, will be available in Lecture Room A on the main floor, and the Multipurpose Room (081) located near the East entrance.

Please note:

  • The Gym opens at 1:18 p.m. for ticket holders.  No entry without a ticket!
  • If the ceremony is moved indoors, graduates and faculty will still be assembling in the Auditorium.  They will move to the Gym at 2:10 p.m., after which entrance to the Auditorium will be permitted with a ticket.
  • Once the Processional to the Gym begins, entry doors to the Gym may be closed by order of the Fire Marshall if capacity has been reached.

GRADUATION FEE:  Payable Online via your ParentVUE/FeePay account

District 196 requires a participation fee of $40.00 for ALL seniors participating in a graduation ceremony.  EHS graduates who participate in the SES and/or EHS ceremony are included.  This fee helps defray the various costs of holding the ceremony. The deadline for paying online is Thursday, May 3.  If you need financial assistance, please see your Counselor.

GRADUATION SPEAKERS:  Faculty Member and Senior Student Speaker

  • The Class of 2018 selected Mr. Paul Kovach, business teacher, as the faculty speaker.
  • The senior student speaker and name readers will be chosen through auditions on Wednesday, May 2 beginning at 2:20 p.m. in Lecture Room A.
  • Audition information will be available on the counter in the Main Office beginning April 12.

All on and off-campus students (including SES, PSEOP, ALC, ABE and DCALS) not planning to participate should contact our Principal’s Secretary at (651) 683-6901 so we don’t reserve a chair for them at the ceremony.

Our East lot (lower level) and Stadium lot will be reserved for families and guests of graduates.  Stadium entrances are on the south end of the field.  Once those lots are full and closed, the next choices are the Northview Park lots off of Northview Park Blvd. (near the Tennis courts).  Please be aware that parking restrictions on neighboring streets will be enforced.

The entrances to our Gym are on the north side through the Auxiliary Gym doors, or the East entrance of the school.   Please do not park in the South Lot – it is reserved for faculty, staff and graduates.
